The non-military service stuff was retcon by Heinlein. The book is absurdly pro-military, pro-death penalty/corporal punishment as a way of ensuring order and the whole “military service as a prerequisite to voting instituted after a rebellion of veterans (implied paragons of civic virtue)” is pretty damn fascist.

Read the reviews from when this came out. Virtually every film critic failed to notice that this movie was anti-fascism and consciously satirizing fascist propaganda. If you get your hands on a copy of the DVD with commentary, PV discusses his bafflement at this mass failure of critical understanding at some length.

The actor has a name. His name is Carver from the Wire, thank you very much.

Halfway is probably two to four times longer than you needed to read to get that Heinlein really liked the military.

Weight lifting determines the shape you will discover when you lose weight. Lifting itself does not do a great job of leaning you out, though, which is why power lifters often look like muscular walking thumbs while bodybuilders look their most muscular at their weakest.

Weight lifting does not really help with fat loss. Eating less helps with fat loss. That said, higher reps are probably the way to go. Bodybuilders have conducted the most results-oriented (though non-scientific) research into this, and if you google “cutting phase” and bodybuilding, you’ll find a lot about how to

What does that have to do with Islam being “better” than Christianity or Judaism on women? I feel like you’re moving the goalposts every post. This started with you saying that Islam was better for women than the other two Abrahamic religions. I said, not so much, see e.g. honor killings and beekeeper costumes (which

Ironically, it is the least “Fusion with design bits” it has been in a while, given the exclusive engine.

Uh, pretty sure Islam’s hands are no cleaner than Christianity or Judaism when it comes to women. I mean, it’s not by accident that honor killings and beekeeper outfits are so common in the Muslim world.

So more than a decade (Lincoln Continental debuted in 1939) rather than 70 years, fair enough. This would be a trademark rather than copyright. I don’t see how you could win on the TM argument, though. The Lincoln Continental was first, and was more famous for a long time. In late 1963 the Lincoln Continental was

That car is so balls to the wall it looks American.

Probably mostly because they’re awesome. Secondarily, before the switch to plastic, headlights were made of glass and prone to breakage. Cover up the headlights, reduce the odds of a break.

New Edge Mustangs look so good they earn the fake scoops and vents, the latter being a design feature dating back to the ‘64.5 Mustang (and a holdover from an earlier, mid-engined design iteration). Fight me bro.

If Lincoln doesn’t still have the rights to the name “Continental” I will be shocked. And the Lincoln name predates the Bentley name by, what, seventy years?

The MKZ is the same platform as the Fusion, no?

That connecting bit with the Lincoln emblem on it always reminded me of Acura’s terrible beak, actually. In my opinion it was that little connecting strip that really pushed the swept back grille into carnival ugly territory.

One of the worst decisions for Lincoln was forcing the Zephyr into the MK naming designation. Zephyr is a great name. It sounds fast, it has history. MKZ is anonymous. MKS makes sense, because Sedan. MKC makes sense, because Crossover. MKZ? What the hell is a Z?

Certainty of discharge is probably the primary consideration with a sidearm followed closely by stopping power. You shouldn’t be shooting at any real distance with a sidearm, nor should you be engaging in an extended firefight. That’s not what sidearms are for. As long as your primary has sufficient capacity and
