I guess. I just feel like it could’ve been done better. I have to say, it takes on a much different/better look with the doors/top off.

I would love to see David to a side by side of frame welds/part profiles on a Tacoma and a Wrangler. For the record, I own neither.

People were expecting the concept Gladiator from a few years ago which looks great. This looks like a 4Dr Wrangler with a bed stuck on the back. The proportions are off. The back of the ‘cab’ (rear doors) are too large. The rear wheel arch/fender flare extends onto the cab which just looks awkward.

What you’re getting at here is pride in workmanship. This is a Chrysler. The two are incongruent.

I really want to like this but the looks are off to my eye. I think it’s the bed with the wheel arch/fender flare that extends over the cab. The four door is what throws much of it off. The concept Gladiator looked much better because there was a proportional extra cab instead of a large full sized door. My two cents.

Clicked here to see a car light up the tires. Left disappointed.

I love those 70s muscle car-ish mag wheels.

At 43k it burned a quart every few hundred miles? I know someone who’s had three WRXs all of varying vintages and all with head gasket issues. Mine just turned 43k and I’m getting nervous.

Ah, got it. Makes sense. Carry on!

Is it just me, or do the proportions look off on this somehow? I love boxy trucks, but the back of this just looks too boxy somehow. Like a 4Dr Wrangler they just tacked a bed onto or something (which I know, it is). The bed somehow isn’t as integrated into the rest of the truck like the old Willys pickup or even the

You didn’t realize Buick is a GM product and you’re commenting on Jalopnik?

OK, I’m glad you brought up the WRX. I bought a ‘13 in ‘14 with 8k miles on it. I knew I was buying a car with a cheap interior because all the money went into the drivetrain and I am totally fine with that. But good God, the quality overall is awful. The car had rattles and squeaks everywhere pretty much from the

I agree and this is sad. Remember when the Maxima was a great car with a great engine and they made cool cars like the 300Z? What the hell happened?

This is a very well written article. Too often here, the writing goes “If GM were better at X and Y, then people would buy their cars - alright, we’ve solved that”. In the end, it’s bullshit. Everyone knows that Chevy could make the greatest car on earth and sell it at the lowest price and still no one would buy it.

    Sold!

That is a universal truth around here.

Got it. Probably a stupid question, but what are the impediments to building this for the market? Too niche? I would think they’d sell the hell out of them.

I assume this is an Icon build, but I can’t find it anywhere. Is it not an Icon?

    Medium sized trucks, I guess?

So are the pickups that are sold to 90% of the buyers where I live. So are the 4DR Wranglers sold here as well. The pickups never pickup anything and the Wranglers never ford anything other than a gravel parking lot. I predict these will sell by the trillions.
