    As I posted yesterday, the interior car options that I require were mostly available in 1984: A/C, power windows, power locks, moonroof, Bluetooth stereo, manual transmission. Anything additional is an unnecessary distraction.

    Some people don’t have cell coverage at their house and the emergency aspect is a plus also.

    They work better with the engine in them.

    That’s a hell of a lot of cost just to make two versions of the same car for a small audience.

    Agreed that the 90s were peak Japanese innovation and quality. To your point we’ll agree to disagree on the Nissan. Any thoughts on why Japanese quality went incrementally south after 2000? I agree with you there but not sure why it seems to have happened. Did they get fat and complacent like the Americans?

    Nope. Nissan in the 80s and 90s were very well made (few Japanese cars weren’t) and lasted forever. I’d take the Nissan bet every day.

    Ditto. And you’re right, this might be a generational/nostalgia thing, but this car was a big deal when it came out, was pretty zippy, and looked pretty good. Most importantly, these things are bullet proof (I’d put all my money on this lasting longer than the BMW despite that it’s 15 years older), and you never see

    Couldn’t agree more. People ask me as ‘the car guy’ all the time what options I like/they should get. The vast majority of the options I require were available in 1984: sunroof, power locks, power windows, Bluetooth stereo. Everything else is unnecessary clutter.

    I was thinking this was just a dull Northeast thing. Is this the case everywhere because it’s driving me crazy. Especially in the winter when the sky is gray, the road is gray, the woods are gray...and every effing car is gray.

    When does this guy start his blog? I’m going to need to see how this turns out.

    Then there’s the whole ‘cutting the bumper off to get to them’ part, which really just turns the whole prank into something else.

    There’s a difference between a lift and a ‘bro lift’. This looks more like the former to me - not very different to what you would’ve seen in the period and not obnoxious.

    Agreed, like the E39 for example that had subtle indications of its capabilities like the small decklid spoiler, deep dish BBSs, and bulged fenders. Judging from this shot, this car carries none of that.
