Thanks for not disappointing
1994 all over again
Feeling funny, are ya wildcat?
The whole ordeal sounds like something out of a “Speed” movie.
Yeah, a go-around would have been very bad. It almost looked like the plane landing was intentionally floating the landing to make sure the plane in front didn’t abort the takeoff. Likely a big brown pants moment for the landing pilots.
The NA Miata also used a copy of the Minilite wheel. Mazda should be commended for building something very close to the Elan is spirit while being reliable and durable
Mazda 3, Mazda 5, Ford Focus (Euro spec, Mk II), Volvo S40, C30, V50 and second gen C70.
him going around could be problematic i think? The plane in front is going somewhere too. Im not sure honestly what his move would be.
Correct. The C1 platform, aka “Global C” was codeveloped by Mazda, Ford and Volvo, and was used in all the compact Euro Fords and the compact Mazdas and Volvos from that era. They share a ton.
When I got mine in ‘81, the catalytic converter was plugged solid, to the point that the car could not turn a tire. Holding the brake and punching it produced a sick “Squeak”, and off it went. I had spoken to Mondello Performance before buying it and was assured by Joe himself that the weak Olds 403 could be made into…
Yeah but things have been nutty the last few years. We're out of that era at this point.
I still miss my ‘79. Not my favorite looks wise, that front end is kinda silly looking, but it was a lot of fun, after I modded the crap out of it. It took about $3K of parts and about $1K of labor in 1981 to make it a 13 second car.

I remember when the first Bad Boys came out in 1995. I always wondered how a police detective could afford a 911 Turbo. Oh I was such an innocent 11 year old at the time.
How can anyone justify this treatment? How can people continue to make excuses for such an objectively flawed and compromised vehicle?
Kinda reminds me of riding to the Rock Store on Mulholland Hwy every Sunday morning in LA...
Damn, fixed. Sorry!
I had a lot of fun explaining to a group of racing-illiterate folks why Leigh Diffey was losing his mind when this happened. Basically, when the first bobble hits, recovering it without spinning or hitting the wall is like a QB throwing a *perfect* pass into triple coverage. Then do that again for each subsequent bobbl…
