Every generation has their fair share.
Nice article. Good to see the organization hasn’t totally succumbed to modernization. It’s the same thing with Alpina (BMW). Sreten from M539 Restorations put out a video a couple weeks ago where he went to Alpina for a tour. Kinda the same vibe with a specific place to work on the older stuff, but they’re definitely…
And a 112 speed limiter.. Very disconcerting the first time you hit it..
What you did there.... I see it..
As an NC resident, I’m kinda keeping an eye on this.. I have no intention of ever purchasing a Vinfast product, but with NC tax breaks and everything else, I’m already kind of invested?
I’m assuming here that you’re referring to the original comment on the Volt (“...small, slow...”)?
The comment for the Volt is so ironic because the F15 chassis BMW X5 hybrid (X5-40e) only has a 15 mile range on electric.. Progress??
The popular consensus is that the old American Escort was bad. Maybe so, but my 1988 Escort GT was not bad, and I’d still have it if I didn’t wreck it at a track event back in the day.
The fact that Mazda never gave the US the Mazda6 wagon in ANY format (was really praying for a turbo diesel/6-speed manual). I remember David Tracy drove one on one of his many European trips while he was at Jalopnik.
Agreed with the Carolina Squat, and it’s illegal in NC too, BUT, it still has to be enforced. There are not as many on the road as there used to be where I am, but I’ve seen police/highway patrol not bat an eye as a squatted truck drove by.
Ford’s probably looking at this and getting pissed. Should’ve kept the Flex going.
GM doing GM things, just like it did with the TourX... grab an Opel and rebadge it, then kill it.
Sigh...
Why not just go to the dude’s house directly and talk to him? Oh wait...this IS 2023...
The LXs were tolerable machines, barely. The best version was the GT, which was my first car (1988 Escort GT). I would still have it today if I hadn’t wrecked it at a track event. The GT specifically wasn’t a BAD car; it was just, in some cases, not AS GOOD as some of the Euro and Japanese cars. After the Escort…
MkII Escort is the real OG.
I got mine hardwired for a cleaner looking installation and convenience
For the Mazda 5, I had one in the lower part of the bumper. Easily accessible with a baseball bat - FIXT...
Still wish they kept making the TourX though
