In the last year the 8 series was produced 1999 it was so out there and really stood apart from the BMW line up as truly something special. Here it is compared to the rest of the lineup. I think the equivalent today would be the i8 in how polarizing the 8 series was in 1999 compared to the rest of the lineup.

The last time they went 6-> 8-Series they introduced a new platform with a V12 which replaced a dated 15 year old platform. This was back in 1990, btw.

While I would agree that the dealer system is flawed and ridiculous.

Sadly if enough people still showed up they’d just mark you as AWOL or something and dock your pay. Sitting in at the end of the production line at least doubles as a strike and guarantees any other workers who called in wouldn’t be productive either.

This is some of the most desperate “the Koreans are just copying the Germans” BS I’ve seen, and I’ve seen a ton of it.

I just can’t care about yet another luxury SUV that costs as much as a house and has a million horsepower. Even if I could afford it, I don’t want it.

The trashiness of this makes me like the Giulia less. Two triangle fender stickers? No.

I still don’t understand the X6 and the other ‘coupe SUVs.’ You pay more money for a car that looks worse and is less useful. Like I get trading practicality for beauty, but the fastback rooflines kill the visual balance so they all look significantly worse, making me wonder who is buying them and why they can afford…
