I don't know about making their own cheese productions, but looking over the comedy movie section of HBONow, I wouldn't call them cheese-averse.

I think it has a good rewatch value due to high joke density, and while many of of the jokes are references to other pop culture, it's not super reliant on references that were only topical in that moment.
