Just got back from a few weeks in Sicily and Sardegna. In general, beautiful beaches all around (I grew up in Alex, Egypt, so the Mediterranean is not like OMG AMAAAZE to me), but I have to recommend Marausa Lido in Sicily, outside of Trapani. Not only gorgeous and inexpensive, but some seriously stylish and sexy

It's disgusting that so many people see her as a legitimate "voice" of Egyptian "liberalism" (more accurately, neo-liberal colonial feminism). I second this whole-heartedly. There are MUCH more nuanced, informed Egyptian voices on this topic than hers.

I wish she and Schwyzer would stay true to their "I'm quitting the internets" promises.

Second this comment - cocaine is not cheap, and the long disparity between crack cocaine sentencing and powder cocaine sentencing accounts for a *healthy* amount of the overwhelming racial disparities in jails and prisons in the United States.

My copay coverage started last August without my knowledge and it was AN AMAZING DAY when I picked up my brand new diaphragm (I decided to try out a year sans-hormones: had previously done Ortho-tc-lo, Ortho, Yasmin, Yaz, and a Nuvaring <—favourite one by far) and the pharmacist scanned it, smiled, and said:

my tactic is to WHACK THEM OUTTA MY HOUSE.

In LA they call them "water bugs" which means MADAGASCAR ROACH really. Ugh.

You didn't burst my bubble - that's why I said the foam block system works for giant roaches. Because the little fuckers are THERE TO STAY. And live inside, ugh.

Expanding silicone foam is THANKFULLY cheap as shit - if you have the giant roaches (not the little ones, those suckers are evil but slightly less terrifying if I just pretend they are large ants), I highly recommend buying some from a hardware store and going to town on wherever they're coming in (tops of doors, gaps

Good God, when I first moved into my place and saw one (dead) I called an exterminator IMMEDIATELY. They came through and put poison everywhere there were gaps in the walls or doors and then shut that shit tight up with expanding silicone foam, but warned me that these BEASTS FROM HELL would eventually eat their way

Yes, this, I need an answer to this also (my problem is the giant madagascar roaches that only come inside to die and the solution is to block their entranceways [that has mostly worked]... but hooooly fuck when I see one that has thwarted my defenses, I start crying like a baby).

Well, now it's more like 5% rat meat, 10% insects, 10% hormones, 25% labour violations, 30% environmental pollution and 20% umm.. "beef."

Try a paraben-free/silicone-free conditioner. Or just regular shitty conditioner. I switched to that, and if you're usually shaving with soap you'll be used to the lack of foam.

Or, y'know.. try waxing or sugaring. Less time-consuming but definitely more of an expense.

Well, Islam does allow abortion (in the interest of the health of the mother), so... maybe we're all that much more EXTRA scary to North Carolina's legislature.

Errr... the history of DR and PR is rife with racism. See: Haiti, U.S. occupation.

YES. All of this.

Alito's reading was a huge problem - he basically made the case ruling about blood quantum, which is NOT how Cherokee determine citizenship. It is a racist, colonial practice that the U.S. historically forced onto indigenous nations, and his ruling basically upholds the continued decimation of indigenous sovereignty

Well, it seems that covert racism bothers many millions of people - as does denying covert racism as systemic in most aspects of culture - is a problem - but thank you for your insight.

You mean the architecture constructed by slaves? The mint juleps served by slaves? The quaint mannerisms that belie the institutionalization of systemic rape, torture, murder, and enslavement?

But making a productivity argument seems very similar to the 'stop being so sensitive' tactic I questioned in my first comment. How do people in positions of privilege decide what is 'productive' to be upset about or engage, and why do those judgements of productivity matter more than the assessments of POC
