It really doesn’t affect me if these games got easy modes, but I would like to see the invasion/summoning pools kept separate if that was the case. A scenario that would make it easier for high-level players to acquire end game gear and then return to starting areas to grief new players isn’t great (although probably…
He sold his soul to three demons to cure himself of lung cancer.
I liked this a lot, but I keep a medium-to-strong interest in what Heidecker is doing (I’ve never been sure how or where to get into Decker or On-Cinema, though).
I’m surprised to see people say things like “I can’t believe he went after the audience after 10 minutes”. That was clearly part of the show as written.
If…
If you are a parody of RP1 fans, this is really perfect and funny. If this is sincere... well, I’m still laughing at you.
My issue with Ready Player One isn’t that it’s a nostalgia trip; that’s okay, but I personally think that’s a boring idea and I’m not interested in it.
My issue with Ready Player One is that any interesting or subversive idea is summarily ignored. Anytime an interesting cyberpunk or technothriller conceit was raised…
We see you, Scott!
“Honey, please, the house will be repossessed if you don’t drop the Funko-Pop loot box subscription!”
Happily married to a nerd who cares about children’s movies about puppets and space wizards, sure.
Any given movie from the golden age of Hollywood or New Hollywood is typically shorter than a given franchise entry that is part of trilogy or ‘cinematic Universe’. She’s not wrong, these movies are crazy overstuffed with ‘content’.
You’ve actually hit on why I got into the series. The first few came out when I was on a gaming break, and skateboarding wasnt really something I cared about. When I did get back into gaming, it was for weirdo combo heavy Japanese stuff mainly, so when I saw my skater brother playing THPS3 or 4 and chaining together…
Hey! The Damage Manual!
I was in my mid-teens only really listening to industrial and post-hardcore, while still hanging with the metal kids, so I hadn’t found my musical taste yet, but I liked that Damage Manual debut. I haven’t really given them any thought since so, glad to hear they did more.
I’ve been thinking this for a while, just quietly suspecting the show was still great but a bit of a relic from a previous generation of TV. If the comic did well, they could probably spin it into a comic universe which might not be bad idea since the show seemed to struggle to contain all its ideas.
I don’t think it is anymore, in the UK at least, but last I was aware it was on Channel 4's streaming service as part of their Adult Swim deal they have going on.
Do they have any big kids/tween shows at the moment? I’m drawing a blank except for the recently concluded Steven Universe, and it’s hard to tell if that was a huge smash or if the internet just makes it feel that way.
The catgorisation of women only as and “people who menstruate” is also shared by really gross misogynist AND anti-transrights “traditionalists” who want to see women as flesh machines who pump out babies. TERFs seem pretty eager to jump under the covers with the grossest cis white men around on a lot of issues.
Chalk me up for another one who found it a bit off-putting.
In the UK, they aired it when I was around 12 on a BBC2 time-slot normally reserved for slightly edgier, Cult viewing (BBC2 also aired Twin Peaks, Buffy, Star Trek TNG, the X-Files and The Simpsons when it first aired terrestrially). I’d check out anything in…
All these acknowledgements of how the DVD feature carried the console are interesting - I remember DVDs at the time proudly proclaiming they were compatible with the PS2.
I didn’t get one until a lot later, when I was in Uni and had a Summer Job. I was coming out of a longish break from gaming due to how good Resident…
It sounds like we’re a similar age, but no matter what happens, in a decade or so we’ll have kids saying stuff like “I miss chilling just playing Fortnight”. We maybe had it good in the 90s, but that came at an expense hidden to most of us.
Urgh, is there any news on which derby teams/leagues were involved? That’s profoundly depressing.
