I don’t mind her music either. Tearing people down is tacky, but lets not confuse it with criticism where criticism (or satire) is warranted.

I can’t help but feel this isnt just people being idiots, it’s the alt-right playing games with reality again.
This review does it and strongly implies that the new show does it too:
And this is using accusations of misogyny to silence criticism of someone who has shown a pattern of mercenary and manipulative behaviour, yet keeps getting rewarded for them.
I’m assuming by “this” you mean “Amanda Palmer”, and yes, it is sad.
He’s not, but if we follow the logic that steampunks are just nerdy goths, both of them definitely appeal to the “Supernatural themed orgy in room 236 after the Firefly panel" crowd.
A platform designed to monetise parasocual relationships like Patreon isnt Twitter, a platform where you can do it for free.
Yeah, he’s a middling fantasy writer who writes wish-fufilment for people who pair goggles and top hats. He had a bit of goth cred in his youth due to Sandman and Good Omens, but those people have aged into polyamorous comic-con goers with Etsy businesses selling plush Tardis and they still think their tastes and…
A similar curse is said to haunt ‘A Confederacy of Dunces’ which has had several of the same actors rumoured to be attached at some point. Probably nothing to do with many of them not being in the best of health, right?
I’m actually okay with most of that stuff, and I think there’s a lot of thematic intentionality with Horne’s Civil War stuff and Nadine’s regression. It’s a silly show sometimes; even The Return had an unknowable evil defeated by a Cockney with Hulk Hands.
One thing ‘The Return’ did that was interesting was face head-on the legacy the show’s had, at least in terms of music and iconography. Twin Peaks can be pretty easily reduced to a handful of hip signifiers (beautiful corpses, bobby socks, coffee, cherry pie, motorbikes, leather jackets, hypnagogic pop, thumbs-up…
I watched it late last year in preparation for finally seeing ‘The Return’ and I think it’s pretty ageless. There’s definitely a Season 2 slump, but not to the degree the internet likes to foam about (aside from James’ soft-porn-without-the-porn adventure. Fuck that.)
That’s true, but I don’t think it’s particularly helpful to fall back on a Reagan era cliché anymore. Outrage is a much more selective and weaponised beast now, and shock and post-modern ‘playfulness’ have been swiped from the left leaving them on the backfoot. The ‘Ban This Sick Filth’ kids have all grown up.
The guys out there posting Pepe’s, idolising The Punisher and getting mad about women in VIDJA GAEMS don’t care about sex and violence in movies.
Yeah, this review made me excited for the film, but what you quoted was a cringingly bad take.
I don’t know if something always being T&A is justification for it continuing to be T&A. I’m not even that bothered about T&A tbh, but a character who can’t seem to escape the gravity of her defining trait being relationship goals for couples with meth-teeth, Slipknot tattoos and holes in the drywall isn’t a character…
I’ve checked the soundtrack and Devo isn’t on there, so unironically, no, it isn't as good as Tank Girl.
This is Deadpool ass erasure.
The target audience for this don’t give a shit as long as they can see their favourite abusive relationship waifu boobily do some sub-Deadpool banter and explosions but with boobs.
I am not a fan of this character in her current form.
Or ‘Kung Fury’ or ‘’Allo ‘Allo’ or thousands of ‘Downfall’ memes or ‘Der Fuerhers Face’ or played Wolfenstein 3D.
The Hitler (or the Nazis generally) as a buffoon angle is a pretty firmly embedded one. But I don’t think that people’s concerns about JoJo Rabbit are really about Hitler or the Holocaust. They’re about now…
