I see. That about lines up with what FalconHood told me as well.
Must be great. Around here in the D.C./Baltimore area, most of the good '90's Japanese cars have been snapped up by ricers or the drift scene and other enthusiasts (with the exception, strangely enough, of the enthusiast's car - the Miata, which is plentiful enough).
Lucky. If you're an Australian resident, I'm curious - how many JDM cars (meaning those conforming to legal authorization to be sold there and those that are simply shipped across as imports) do you see around? I'm asking because as I remember, some GT-Rs were legally sold there, and being so close to Japan must make…
Well, yeah, I saw the conversion in the photo. :) I just meant that the Stagea 260RS isn't badged as a Skyline GT-R wagon (I'm just being extremely technical here - I know the vast similarities).
Ah, I see. I'm not that in-the-know about the JDM scene, so I wasn't aware that there were front clips that'd fit easily enough to be done frequently (other than the one in the photo, of course). Only such conversions I'm aware of are the Sileighty and peanut/hawkeye STi's.
It is a tuned up LSA, but isn't the LSA a downgraded/detuned LS9 to start with?
I think that taking both cars to a dragstrip or something (the in-city pulls were still pretty sweet, though) should've been thrown in along with just a little more sideways action, given how much Chris usually fools around with cars - especially these two in particular.
Yup. Using a Logitech G27 with Gran Turismo 5 helped me get used to shifting when I need power and just rowing through gears in general.
I don't think popular rental agencies offer manual cars - they'd be money pits because of all the people wearing out clutches and transmissions solely to learn stick.
Pretty good stuff. My dad's teaching me how to drive a manual with his new Focus, and this'll help later as I get more experienced and can try some more techniques out. Right now I'm trying to get used to moving from a stop in first gear to make a left or right turn - I feel a sense of urgency every time I try it that…
Not bad. The picture for the thumbnail looks a little off to me, but it looks great from all other angles.
My dad got a loaded Focus SE 5-speed a couple weeks back to replace his '05 Matrix XR and has been loving it so far. I'm thinking that we might look for an Escape to replace my mom's '98 Sienna in a few months, but a Kia Sportage might be more suited for her.
Unnecessity. If I lived in an apartment in D.C., and the commute to my workplace was laid with cramped 2/3-lane roads, just getting out of my parking space/garage and into traffic (filled with other drivers of varying competency) would be a challenge. Also, if I hung out with friends, it'd most likely be somewhere in…
Still figuring out images/videos. Ignore this post.
While I can't give anywhere near as deep or articulated an opinion on the topic as teampenske3, I think that I can chime in regarding "Generation Neutral" (seeing as I've just graduated high school).
Wow. It felt like I was the one driving the FR-S.
