I finally broke my habbit of going to the avclub for information. It took a while as they use to be great, but now I’m free of that useless place.

no, it is dumb. it’s a terrible way to play any game where quick reactions are required, so basically anything not turn-based. the input lag is terrible. and for anyone saying “the lag isn’t noticeable,” you’re just wrong and bad at noticing lag.
It is dumb though. Latency cannot be “resolved”, unless you know a way to violate the laws of physics. It is also fragile, and power inefficient - not only do your frames have to be rendered just like with a home computer/console, they also have to be realtime compressed, which takes time and causes quality…
Notice how I said “AAA gaming”? That’s the important distinction. We’re not talking about indie developers increasing the price of their games from 10 bucks to 20. We’re talking about the companies that rake in hundreds of millions in profits increasing the price of their already over expensive games. If you want…
I do wait for some games, but if I want to play it now, I guess I’m glad I’m in a position where waiting a year to save $35 isn’t that important to me, and I hope others get there soon.
I’m more than happy to pay $70 per game if it means more content and less DLC/P2W microtransactions (hopefully).
I was working in video game retail when CD based games became a thing and the price point going down to $49.99 was a selling point. The idea was that cartridges were what made games cost so much.
The price has remained the same, but the profits AAA developers/publishers bring in has increased exponentially. FAR more than the cost of development has increased. The price hike is unnecessary.
There are power dynamics at play here, to be fair. I’m not entirely interested in the conversation of whether or not “manipulated” is the right word, but I do think it’s fair to consider the ways in which someone who is rich, famous, and sexualized/glamourized in media has over someone who is only 23.
I will say that while he is indeed a complete joke, Levine is a very rich, successful man a full 20 years older than Stroh. So while manipulated may not be the right word, there is a vast vast power imbalance happening here. And I do feel for her on that.
You kiiiiinda covered this, but it’s $100 for early access to an exotic everyone will get when the expansion releases, and it’s purely bonus, you’re paying for $100 of content completely independent of the gun.
This made my day.
You those of you in the comments are complaining when they warn you the first time you do it and then you do it again and are punished for 30 minutes. Give me a break. It is totally fair.
They have concocted a whole mess of imaginary rules around game modes for themselves.
30 minutes is a long time in the limited screen time my parents give me. What am I supposed to do? Something other than what I immediately want to do? After I just backed out of it? Twice! You don't tell me what to do! You're not my step-mom!
I think it is correct to give a penalty for leaving or being kicked out for being AFK. FFXIV has done this since ever for example on all its daily roulettes when if you get into a duty and leave you get a penalty of 30 min without being able to queue. This was to avoid players just leaving until they got the instance…
Why is anyone expecting a “casual” scene in a PVP mode for a 1st person shooter?
They added skill based matchmaking to Control as a test run, and I’m gonna bet people ditching matches was abundant enough they felt this necessary. People bailing on a match just strands the others with a disadvantage, and even when it finds someone to add late, THAT person spawns in at a disadvantage on the losing…
How Cult of the Lamb didn’t make this list is beyond me.
