Gizmodo does post a fair amount of negative Apple news. Maybe not as much as the positive, but you can always filter stories to your liking. With a company as huge as Apple has become, whos products are wildly popular you have to expect large numbers of articles.

Yeah, because so many people who have owned an iPad suddenly decide they don't want a beautiful screen, near infinite apps, and regular OS updates and downgrade to an Android tablet.

I agree, but I can see Apple making jillion$ on a 7", $200-$250 iPad. Internals could be identical to say, the iPad 2, with perhaps the rear camera removed. Possibly WiFi only to cut costs? If so, Amazon and Google may be in trouble, even know the iPad 2's hardware is quite good.

This will be a commercial failure, and up being yet one more thing I buy solely for the console emulators that will be ported. I'm kinda weird that way. Spend $300 on a PS3! Why? So I can put Snes9x on that sucker and get my 1080p Mario Kart on! I really need help. Or a girlfriend.

I also learned on a manual. Why the assumption about Americans learning on autos? It may be a fair amount do, but it's not like it's mandated by law or anything.
