North American SVT Focus (ST170 elsewhere) was and still is a good looking first gen Focus. I am biased though, have had one for 15 years.

In an era when everything damn styling feature on cars was round and bubbly, I had rather liked the direction Ford was taking with the sharp creases in their design language.
Exhaust. To me that was the difference maker on my old 5 point O. Yeah, the wheels/tires & lowering springs made it look drastically cooler than the stock ride height and appearance it once had, but a set of headers, flow masters, and an H-pipe transformed it’s fun factor and performance. Each shift is smile inducing…
Lincoln boring? I dunno...400hp twin turbo V6 AWD sedan for $42g. The new MKZ is pretty badass. I for one prefer the understated handsome clean lines.
Damn you Jalopnik. Get out of my head. I’ve been scouring CL for a long time for a good Z3. I certainly don’t need a bunch of Johnny-come-latelys to bust my game.
I had thought it was my dad’s ‘67 Coronet R/T but then I realized that I drove THE Green Hornet ‘65 Lincoln from the movie with Seth Rogan.
Seriously the movie is called Geostorm?! Was there not one person over the age of 35 that worked on that movie?! No one at any time at the studio said, “uh guys...you know that Geo Storm is the name of a shitty 90's car right?”
Geez..almost turned into an Eleanor?! How many Mustangs to have to give up their souls to be converted into one of those hideous Eleanor monstrosities? Stop the madness.
Maybe its time for someone to head up a sanctioning body of sorts where manufacturers can volunteer their vehicles to pass spec and need to fit criteria like actual production tires, wheel mounted speedometers, etc.
I hadn’t heard of this story. Way cool. Just think, had the P4 been built, we’d have some killer hot rod versions of it now. Too bad.
Is that a zimmer? Not a bad looking car really.
This was about 1980 I’d say. I was 6. My neighbor had a Mako shark Corvette on blocks in his carport. My dad (a gearhead) wanted to buy it. Neighbor was willing to sell it to him for what I now know was $1800 bucks. A steal even then. But mom wouldn’t let dad buy it for fear that we were taking advantage of our…
Its a handsome Cute-Ute for sure. My biggest issue, aside from being underpowered, is the name. Wish they just buried the Compass name. It’s a good name, it’s just been soiled by the previous POS. I wouldn’t want to have to explain what I drive all the time, “No, this is a new Compass. It’s different. No, not the…
When car-stupid people say to me things like: “the Focus RS is still just a Ford” or that “the Miata is a girl car” or that “wagons are for soccer moms.”
I’d rather have door dings. Those reptile lumps look stupid.
I had a car that had a weird sqeak that drove me nuts. (‘96 Altima SE) tightening every interior screw I could access didn’t solve the issue. Turned out to be the donut spare! It been jarred from it’s insulated nest in the trunk and was rubbing rubber to metal. Slight adjustment to the tire and viola!
Great read. Nicely done!
Amen to that.
If I’m going to watch something without fenders race, they’d better be motorcycles. No thanks. ;)
I couldn’t get through a single race without becoming bored. So, no.
