Tesla Model 3 Performance, around $49k

Okay, but given the fact that Sotheby’s didn’t specify that the wheel lasers were removed, we have to assume that they are still installed, correct?

Its nice. But I don’t see $600k worth of anything here.

Terrible take, brand identity is super important. Think of the BMW Roundel or MB Three Pointed Star or Honda “H”. Ford’s logo is iconic to the point they can interchangeably use blue oval for it.

Why? He’ll probaby get hit by a meteorite on the way to the store.

People like the gti because it has good, competent performance without being offensive or problematic. You would have to make it stiffer to make it handle better, noisier to make it more exciting, hurt the practicality to make it look cooler, less efficient to make it faster, etc. Given that it's a car that normal

I’m not particularly interested in anything GM sells for a whole host of reasons. However, I’ll say this - I wouldn’t buy a vehicle in 2023 that didn’t have Car Play support. I’m not terribly interested in learning a second system just so a car company can avoid a license fee.

one of just 786" - I agree, that’s a big club.

I wonder how many of those folks have had their student loans on pause for the past couple of years. If they are in the “bad with money” camp then things are about to get real come August.

We have a pretty high combined income, and I wouldn’t even dream of a $1000 car payment, OR a $733 payment. The most I’ve ever dealt with is $500 a month, and I paid extra every month to get rid of that. I’ll drive a shitbox the rest of my life if that’s what it takes to avoid a car payment.

Weird to think about. I feel like I’m doing pretty well in life but buying a house right now and having a car note for an average priced car with an APR of 8% isn’t really doable. I make more than the average household and yet, as someone without kids, I’m not able to afford what my parents could. How do people swing

I must have the wrong career, wrong job or am bad at money. I can’t imagine having a $1000 car payment on a single vehicle. No way it would fit in my budget.

ND based on previous ownership of one of these. These are not fun to own - you have the parts cost of a vintage Porsche, they are arguably harder to work on than an old 911, but you get basically none of the performance. They also have a wiring harness that degrades over time, so these (and all pre-1985.5 944s with

Should’ve called it the Rolls-Royce 6000 Sux.

Because everything revolves around that sub. It cannot be escaped and can’t be ignored.

There is no way this is under 5 digits. It’s a completely forged internals engine to be able to handle that kind of torque. Add in the turbo cost and then getting a transmission that can handle all this, I’ll take my LS that can do the same power with a known transmission path and still has 200-400hp easy head room

Tell me you didn’t read the article without telling me you didn’t read the article.

No, that’s pretty much what I expected
