Daytime, drive the Taconic State Parkway. It's way off season but still a nice trip.
Night time, drive two of the most terrifying roads in the area — the interborough parkway and FDR drive. These are mobbed from about 6AM to midnight.

You cant go wrong with any parkway, but stay off any interstates

as someone who works in the industry, this is absolutely true.

if i had to guess, i would estimate that 20% of needed permits are actually obtained.
some things that need permits:
— installing an extension, building a deck
— any changes to any interior walls, in any building, anywhere
— adding a pool (above or below
