I think his being blackballed is a bit of a stretch. His stats weren't all that great his last couple seasons, I believe he was in the bottom third for punters. Factor in he played at least 9 games a year in a windless, climate-controlled dome, that bumps him even further down the list.
But the point your missing is, these English or music students that are the best of the best (like the scholarship athletes) have extra curricular activities outside their music or English or whatever course loads.
