Did this site get bought by BP or Chevron? Or is it all the free extravagant trips, loaner cars, and other perks tritonal manufactures are always giving the staff? Everyone knows there’s no such thing as a free lunch.
The CEO is 100% an asshole, but the poor fit and build just isn’t the case anymore. Picked one up late last year and it was flawless. Drives smoother, quieter, and faster than any car I’ve been in. Its so fun taking Mustangs, Subie STIs, and other ‘fast’ ICE cars off the line in comfort and silence. Charging at home…

100%... Plus the lack of noise. Its fun pulling up to any Honda, Toyota, Subaru, GM knowing you can take them off the line in a bubble of comfort and silence. No idea why anyone would want fake gears or a whole suite of simulated engine sounds. Looking forward to seeing these around (they look good!) but not hearing…

While still getting off the ground, the Giga Press is a major leap forward in manufacturing... Both in cost, reliably, and most importantly speed. Same with their 4680 battery manufacturing. While the cars may look the same from the outside, they are making them faster, cheaper, and more consistent.
Toyota’s conservative approach to innovation has worked for a long time because the whole industry was mostly doing the same. Tesla came in and dramatically changed the cadence of innovation so that approach is no longer stainable. I hope Toyota wakes up otherwise Japan’s economy may never recover when they fail.
Drive any modern EV and then hop into a Toyota and you’ll see they are already fucked. Going to take 5-10 years for it to really set in. Even if they could some how crank out BEV’s tomorrow they are so far behind with the Software/UI/BMS the BEV’s would be garbage (i.e. bZ4X). Sad state of affairs as I grew up driving…
Its cool that Honda is doing this, but its wild to think 800hp in an SUV what some people are using as their daily driver.

Seems like Stellantis needs to buy Rivian and Honda needs to buy Lucid. All 4 companies are already facing head winds from Tesla but once the Chinese, Ford, and VW really get going they going to be in a world of hurt.
