I used to work for an organization that replaced their annual holiday party with giving us the week between Christmas and New Year’s off. It was very civilized.

Yeah, that’s the thing that keeps tripping me up.

It’s true: Most kids couldn’t give a rat’s ass who’s doing the voices. They’ll happily watch just about anything animated.

I’d give it a solid 6/10 on the celebrity apology scale.

That’s pretty much what happened to the Republican party in California: They doubled down on an anti-immigrant platform in a way that alienated everyone but the people who wrote it. 20 years later, Republican registration is at about 26% of voters, and Democrats hold all statewide offices plus supermajorities in both

A guy kills 20+ in a church today, but it’s still too soon after Vegas to talk about gun control, so.

Congratulations!

Maybe it depends on the school.

Yeah, sounds about right.

For the second time in this series, Darvish lasted five outs—and only that long this time because manager Dave Roberts made the mistake of letting him stay in.

For the first few years I was at this nonprofit, my director knew how lucky they were to have me, especially since I could be making a lot more in the private sector. The people outside of my department weren’t sure what I did, exactly, but they knew I did it well.

I’ve found that one’s experience at a nonprofit frequently depends on one’s department. The people in the program department where I worked were passionate about what they did and stayed on for years and years, but the development and communications departments leaked people like a rusty sieve.

Are you me? Wait - I guess not. My nonprofit was local. I was there for a few years, but after six months under a new director, I had to get out of there for my own sanity. It was such a bad situation that I got a severance package even though I technically resigned.

Theory 1: “there is NO COLLUSION” was meant to be “there is NO COLLUSION now, but there WAS collusion THEN,” but he ran out of room before he could tell the whole truth.

I’m in favor of honesty, possibly because I’m not good at keeping my fudges straight.

I imagine he’ll quietly stay involved with the industry from that ketch. He’s orchestrated too many successful Oscar campaigns to be completely ostracized.

I have a friend who’s a survivor, and that’s pretty much how she describes her mother.

Yes, this is sad and could have been handled much, much better.

It is exactly as much work for my roommate as remembering to be quiet when she comes in at 2 am, setting out an envelope so we can put in our rent checks together, or asking me to loan her $200 for a few days because her client hadn’t paid her and she doesn’t want her check to bounce.

I can’t speak for your college roommate, but this is how it works for me: I see a mess, and it doesn’t register as something that needs to be cleaned up. I see it as a fact, and as long as it’s not impinging on my ability to live my life, I kinda don’t care.
