Just because they are less passionate about making games than indies doesn't mean they are worthless or not great creators. There's just a difference between someone who independently studies and creates and a cog in the machine, the personal choice and risk involved.

I'm not sure you know what the word passion means. It's really hard to be passionate about something you don't actually care about (spongebob). Would they work on it without being paid?

They are passionate because they take on every role (concept, design, programming, art, music, writing, advertising) and work for years without actually getting paid for their work. Their only motivation is actually their passion.

I would hope mods will have a huge effect on these projects.
