This is giving me horrified flashbacks to law school and discussions of natural law, which really just boil down to a paradigm where white, upper class straight men experience justice and everyone else experiences comeuppance.

Yes - they’re supplying their own answer, which is that “human rights” only apply to clumps of fetal tissue, and corporations (naturally).
Note: last night I posted the link above to Ashley’s Barf Bag rundown and pointed out that the media weren’t yet giving this nefarious commission much coverage. I’m glad to see that it’s rolling out across the mainstream press now, because this is an attempt to existentially change who we are as a nation; to redefine…
Its members will address basic questions: What are our fundamental freedoms? Why do we have them? Who or what grants these rights? How do we know if a claim of human rights is true? What happens when rights conflict? Should certain categories of rights be inextricably “linked” to other rights?
Thanks for covering this, Ashley. In addition to their positions on abortion and other women’s reproductive rights, this commission is seeking to alter the US State Department’s established stance for LGBTQ rights and condom distribution for HIV/AIDS prevention. They want to redefine HUMAN RIGHTS to something they…
Just a reminder to everyone that Robert Kraft was literally caught on tape with a woman in a sex-trafficking establishment and he was last seen two days ago at an official state dinner honouring the emir of Qatar.
Really fun read, but I’m not surprised it was a disappointing experience.
People talk. There’s a woman at my workplace who had a stillborn child a few years ago. I’ve only exchanged a few words with her, but I know her baby died. And I have a child, I know how overwhelming late pregnancy and the post partum weeks are. People focus on childbirth as the most difficult part, and sure, it’s…
Wow, that place is getting sued by so many different people.
That is exactly what I was thinking too. I’m curious to know if they were somehow legally obligated to give the twins to the other couple? Obviously you’d want to give birth to your own children but the moral and emotional dilemma of carrying twins to term and then having to surrender the babies to their biological…
Imagine telling everyone in your life who knew you were pregnant what happened to the babies and why. And then going through all the post-partum stuff without babies, but lots of people feeling sorry for you and probably gossiping about it behind your back.
Whenever someone points out that my son looks exactly like my husband I respond ‘at least we know they transferred the right embryo’. Maybe I should stop saying that.
oh my god oh my god oh my GOD
What an utter nightmare. Infertility can be rough enough as it is, but the sheer emotional trauma of carrying and giving birth to two children only to learn they’re not yours, and having to give them back is horrible - and that’s before we factor in the ridiculous amount of money they spent on it, too.
so, i love jane the virgin very, very much. but i always thought that they really, really glossed over the whole “incredible trauma of an IVF mix-up” aspect of the show. which, i realize, is the entire basis of the show. but basically jane was just like “oh dear, well he wants a baby and cancer and it was his…
I learned this sad fact about a year ago when Fox News just happened to be on at some restaurant I was eating at. I actually got into an argument with my own eyes at that point because I could not believe that they would hire THAT GUY to comment on police brutality, race relations, etc. I looked it up, saw it was…
She is really pulling off the “Odd looking but still relatively inexpensive to do weekly should be go to series alien from some obscure 90s sci-fi show” look real well.
