@Cooking Utensil: I'd imagine it depends on the country and in varying degrees. Canada has the Own the Podium program. I'd imagine that the States would have their own rewards for their medalists. I think other income comes from endorsements, as well (if you're lucky enough).

I have to admit that her music is pretty catchy. Her videos and fashion sense make her come off as very, very weird but, goddamn, she can write a catchy hook.
