Forever hoping for a Psych reboot!

Conservatorships (in particular, who is allowed to serve as a conservator) are just a really underregulated area, so lot of the time reforms to come after there’s been some sort of public scandal.

The reaction is definitely multifactoral, and obviously there is no single reason that will be universally true. I just think it’s worth giving some thought to the body standards piece of the reaction.

Yeah, I mean that’s why I said “a lot,” I recognize that there isn’t a single reason that’s going to be universally true.

I kind of think a lot of the reaction to the early-aughts fashion resurgence has less to do with the actual trends themselves and more to do with bad memories of the absolutely horrific body standards of the time. Like, I remember seeing an article about how to dress for your body type in a teen magazine, and it being

That’s really the thing for me - it’s like, not even uncommon for judges to find that none of an incapacitated person’s family members are suitable guardians and appoint a professional/3rd party. Like, even if the judge isn’t prepared to lift the conservatorship for whatever reason, it’s very clear that her family are

I feel like a big piece that’s missing from the conversation about Britney’s case is that a person can have a guardian of their estate and not of their person - it’s not even an uncommon situation, where a person might not be capable of managing their estate (essentially, their finances) but is absolutely capable of

I’d be happy with a Symone or Gottmik win, but Kandy and Rose absolutely should not win. Kandy has grown on me but there’s no justification for her winning over Symone or Gottmik. I suppose Rose winning could be justified, but there’s just some blandness about her that she can’t seem to shake, even if she has loosened

Also just like, that type of labeling is such a relief because then you don’t have to question workers about the ingredients, which can feel embarrassing even though it shouldn’t.

Perhaps in the south, but Chalfont is in the Philadelphia suburbs. That’s just not how it is here.

Yeah I distinctly remember reading some of Hawthorne’s short stories alongside The Scarlet Letter in HS and thinking his short stories were leaps and bounds better.

Hard agree with all of this.

There’s a huge piece of the public-sector union discourse that just isn’t broadly discussed or thought about though: if management were to actually write people up and follow the steps of progressive discipline, they would be able to fire that person both under the union contract and not in violation of age

I wish there were Korean beauty stores near me! I have to order all of my K beauty stuff online, and if I’m not careful with the timing I run out before the new tube comes (obvs this was a much bigger problem pre-pandemic, when we actually saw other people).

Check out Korean brands - I have pale olive skin too, and I find that Korean brands tend to have nice matches for my skin. Personally, I’m partial to Missha, but your HG will obviously depend on your skin type and the finish you’re looking for.

THE BIRTHDAY CAKE OREOS THOUGH. I can’t keep them in the house because my partner and I will crush the entire thing in a night.

Honest question for the true police/prison abolitionists among us, because I have yet to actually come across any meaningful or productive discussion on the matter: if we abolish police/prisons entirely, how does society handle extreme cases?

Yeah as soon as he listed what was in the bucket I was like that’s deffo someone’s murder kit.

Right like, everyone’s minds are on John McCain, but it’s not like he was the only Republican on any ballot she’s ever cast.

I think this also means she has almost certainly voted for Mitch McConnell, possibly more than once, which is pretty bad.
