yeah, i’m sure i watched this too, as an impressionable tween who thought everything about her was wrong, since i wasn’t tall or pale. i was skinny but apparently not skinny enough. beauty standards were rigid as a mf.

I was watching this and wondering how many of those women must be lying about their height or weight. Although it wouldn’t be surprising if they did they do mandatory weigh-ins back then... This video is a perfect example of how putting a numerical value on what a woman should weigh to be “pretty” has harmed so many…

One contestant was 5'11" and 110 lbs. - that’s insane. I know someone who was in Miss USA five years ago and really worked to get down to “pageant weight”. She is now back to a healthier weight. It’s crazy.
