The protomolecule is basically engineering equipment created by ancient aliens (and I do mean ancient.) In the books it’s explained better, but they’ve mentioned it a few times in the show too. Basically, billions of years ago aliens shot Phoebe at our solar system. It was aimed at Earth, and was supposed to drop the

This may technically be spoiler-y since they haven’t “processed” Holden’s vision in the show, but by this point in the book they completely explained what he saw, so I’m going to explain it to help alleviate confusion:

Man, everyone here seems to agree that the station lowering the speed limit instantly is intense, but the alien defense system has some far nastier (if slightly less initially dramatic) tricks up its sleeve.

Your interpretation of events isn’t *quite* accurate.

***Spoiler alert***

Two things:

Overall this was a fantastic episode, and plays out the climax of Caliban’s War in a most wonderful way. I can’t wait for them to wrap up the loose ends next week and move on to Abaddon’s Gate. If you thought season 3 was bonkers so far, you haven’t seen anything yet.

“I hope Anna gets more to do.”
Oh, will she ever. (She’s still a weak character in the book, but yeah, she has a couple of great moments).

To be fair, Caprica sucked hard. It removed everything that was great about Battlestar Galactica and multiplied everything I found irritating about BSG.

I’m borrowing from the books here, but the hybrids were aimed at Mars. They went dark after launch, which would make them very difficult to detect and shoot down.

I’m not surprised that Heimdall is dead, but goddamn I’m going to miss him. He was the most memorable and badass out of all the secondary characters in the Thor series, and I was really happy to see him get things to do in Ragnarok.

As long as they follow the books, Anna and her wife will turn out fine.

Fun fact: when I was about 13 years old, my best friend and I spent a bus ride home on a field trip discussing Power Rangers. We formed a list of everything that would have to be changed in order to make the show not corny or shitty. When we got to the title of the show, we realized that we had literally listed every

I am so happy to see IO9 doing Expanse recaps. This show needs as much exposure as possible. It’s truly the best sci fi we’ve had since Battlestar Galactica. (In my humble opinion it’s even better than BSG).

This season is wrapping up book two and will get into (and hopefully finish) book 3. You still have time to get out there and read books 4 and 5 before they’re adapted for next season.

That was in the books, I believe in Cibola Burn. It was a sad conversation. I like that they’re bringing the development of these characters into the show. In fact I think Amos is getting more development than he did in the books.

It’s tough to compare it to any one show. It has the working class crew of Firefly, the politics of Game of Thrones, the deep themes of Battlestar Galactica (and more frequent and better combat) and the realistic tech of 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Oh my God, I would love to hear more about the original game and what changed, or was preserved, when translating the game to the novels and eventually TV.

The ship is under hard burn, which means it’s accelerating. When she detaches she’s no longer accelerating with the ship. I’m more concerned with the fact that everyone is acting like they’re under normal G forces when the ship is supposed to be burning hard in the first place, but IIRC in the book the yacht wasn’t
