Public universities aren’t in the business of deciding who gets to speak and who doesn’t. In fact, they are specifically banned from being in that business.

Almost everything about this post is simply dead wrong. No, you cannot decide speech is “inflammatory” and then ban it. This country is based off inflammatory speech. Berkeley is ground zero of inflammatory speech in the 60's and 70's. Inflammatory speech is sacred.

Hate speech IS protected speech!

This is insane. You seriously think a public university can “can set parameters around speech expectations”? This directly contradicts literally the first line of the first amendment of the Bill of Rights. Unbelievable.

I suspect you would have an entirely different opinion on this if Black Lives Matter were about to hold a rally at the University of Alabama, and the rally was cancelled at the last minute under dubious circumstances.

The best part is it doesn’t even pretend it’s doing anything more. At least Nespresso and Keurig machines give the impression that there are tiny coffee gnomes living inside that brew every cup from scratch. This is like “put the bag on this hook and close the door, and we’ll squeeze it for you!” The tip of the

So pathetic. So you got jobbed by the refs - that has absolutely NEVER happened to another team before!

Here’s an idea - how about you don’t let a 7 loss MAC hang with you at home to the point where you have to exploit a little-known loophole in order to avoid letting the result hang on the final play?

OR

Yes, once you’ve opted into eating shitty food all the time, shitty food tastes normal.

“Before anyone brings up an extremely salient point, let me make a lame joke that does absolutely nothing to dispel that point”

Fun fact - nobody outside of Deadspin writers gives a shit about these “racist” logos. Not even most Native Americans. This is the domain of Concerned Liberal White People, and pretty much nobody else.

Also, where does this theoretical ability to declare a passenger as “trespassing” end? Can United declare a passenger’s ticket invalid while they’re taxing and just kick him out into the runway? Can they declare him invalid in the air and chuck him out the window?

This is why United’s terms of carriage make it

I don’t get people who say he “should” have done something else. If he gets up as told, he gets a small voucher at best. Now, he is probably going to be given a million dollars to shut up and go away.

1) It is not trespassing if you are invited in, which he clearly was given that he had a ticket, and passed through a very strict entry process (airline boarding). The airline changed its mind, at which point it is up to them to figure out how to deal with the situation without beating him up.

There is nothing dumb about putting yourself in a position where they will probably end up paying you a million dollars to go away, all in exchange for a bloody nose.

That is simply not true. You ARE owed compensation if bumped against your will - 400% of the price you paid. It’s federal law.

You’re more cynical than I am about the state of capitalism. Even if the company is a soulless, unfeeling entity (and it is!), this is a HORRIBLE business move. The max they offered for passengers to give up their seat was $800. In other words, they probably could have completely avoided all of this for something

The entire point of a boycott is you look at metrics such as price, convenience, value, etc and THEN you pick your 2nd choice based on some other factor. The boycott doesn’t hurt anyone if they were not your 1st choice to begin with.

“Yeah, I’d totally boycott but I can’t because they are cheapest”

Jesus, dude. You are exactly why companies can get away with this shit.

They 100% know how many tickets they sold. They just changed their mind about the number of tickets they wanted to sell AFTER people had boarded the flight.

Roman Reigns IS over. He gets the loudest boos of anyone in the WWE every time his crappy music plays. All the idiot “smart” fans who cheer traditional heels are getting played. In the end, you need people who are hated to make wrestling work, and in the current era fans simply don’t hate people who come in and act
