I rather enjoyed the combat in DA2, compared with DA:O. It looks and feels flashier and quicker and the mage has some sweet moves.

For Dark Souls, you can find a couple more lightning spears and great lightning spears later on. Also, if you join the Heirs of the Sun Covenant, you can get the Sunlight Spear. If you want some more offensive miracles, try Emit Force. It's pretty handy and readily available.
