There’s a show on Netflix called Criminal: France, and Episode 1 reminds me of this whole topic. I won’t tell you any more but it’s worth a watch.

Many years ago, there was a great article on Slate about the large numbers of people who brazenly lie about having a personal connection to 9/11, including the president of the WTC Survivors Support Network.
Considering how low on the scale working in retail is, are you surprised?
No one seemed to be like “get away from me” when I walked next to them. That’s what I’ve encountered at grocery stores.
This is what I don’t get. The same department stores that are going bankrupt and closing are the ones responsible for driving people away from the stores and online. Service was better, staff was actually knowledgeable about the products, and if they didn’t have something they would order it for you. Now, you’re lucky…
I’d like to imagine that shopping after this will be people not taking up whole aisles all to themselves and covering their mouths instead of coughing and sneezing all over everything.
If you think Chrissy Teigen is the only person who was periodically an asshole on the Internet in their mid-20s...
Her original tweets are STILL up and despite being told that those tweets deeply hurt a child in an abusive relationship, she has not said a thing. How is that even basic decency?
I hope so. And I don’t even particularly like Teigen (or Roman for that matter) but I liked the part in her statement about how she knows what it’s like to be starting out and saying snarky shit like you would with your friends. Once you get to a certain level of fame you can’t do that anymore and yeah that’s when you…
I guess I’m lucky I don’t remember all this shit because I don’t have the patience to bear grudges over what some celebrity I’m never going to meet said years ago. Who fucking cares? Do those comments mean she’s not allowed to respond to Roman’s comments? Does one have to have a perfect social media track record to…
But also, she knows better than to keep dragging this shit on for all eternity because aren’t people bored of the outrage-apology-repeat ad eternam nonsense already? She got a publicist and won’t be putting her foot in her mouth anymore and people who hate her can go on hating her and boycotting her recipes, her fans…
I mean, her career was doing fine before- NYT food columnist and Bon Appetit contributor with 2 bestselling cookbooks and 500k+ instagram followers, because that matters.
Honestly, I think what’s going on here is Chrissy knows she won, almost everyone is on her side except for Karens/blatant racists (and who even cares what they think except for other Karens/racists), and she gets to look like the bigger person. She went high, etc. I don’t think it necessarily means she truly accepts…

Worth noting that she got there before any threat of being cancelled. I am pretty neutral on Chrissy. I know about the shit she said in the past. No it is not cute. But she also seems very self aware and that she has earnestly learned and grown from her mistakes.
Growth is always good. Though I do think she was too old to be saying some of the shit she used to say anyway. Teigen was in her mid-20s with the Carey and Lohan posts. So growth IS good. Always. She still went from “lol @ fatties and self harm” to basic decency.
She actually tried to apologize THREE times.
Well of course you can choose your own adventure, but I think that Chrissy talking here about she isn’t proud of the things she used to say when she thought of herself as just an internet snark and she appreciates that she has had the chance to be better. She straight up says that she now thinks about the things she…
I read Alison’s apology. Towards the end she says “Nobody is responsible for educating me, but here’s an email address in case you want to educate me.” She’s a real pro at missing the point.
What I learned from this is that Alison Roman hates successful minority women, while also capitalizing on ethnic cuisines. I am glad I had never heard of her before a few days ago, and I am sorry that I now have space in my brain for her.
