The auto industry said this about: power steering, automatic starters, seat belts, crash/crumple zones, backup cameras, fuel economy, etc, etc, etc. Greed and lack of foresight is the real issue. If you cannot make it, quit. 

I’d think the Kia equivalent would be the Sorento (189 inches in length), which can also be had with three rows and in roughly the same price range as the Outlander (when my wife was looking at her most recent vehicle, she cross-shopped the Sorento and the Outlander. We were impressed with the Outlander’s fit and

Other commenters below have recommended the Fiesta ST—solid choice, but $10K is like the bare minimum price for one that isn’t trashed these days. Ditto the Focus ST.

Had mine for 9 years with no issue, yes, no issue. Fun, and guaranteed smile.

Plus they both have a ~1500 lb payload capacity (and up to 5,000 lb towing on the Santa Cruz.
