My wife owns a 2014 Corolla, and it is sometimes dangerously slow. I think it has something to do with how the CVT reads and reacts to driver input, but there have been multiple times when I had to make a fast turn and the CVT refuses to lower the gear ratio and the car just drags. It is very disconcerting, because at

A 2014 BMW i3 REX isn’t a good choice. It only gets 72 miles on electric brand new. In 2019 I tried a 2015 i3 from Carvana without the range extender (81 mile range brand new), and the battery had degraded to the point that it only had a 45 mile range. In only 4 years it barely had over half of it’s original range.

I was tempted to pick up a used 2017 bolt, but now I worry about how long it will take to replace the battery.

Most ICE car fires are caused by oil or gas leaking onto hot engine parts and as a result happen to cars that are older and poorly maintained. It would definitely be front page news if new Ford Rangers were catching on fire after just weeks of ownership.

Fiat 500e had the opposite issue. The big battery would keep trying to charge a failed 12v battery. So if you left it unplugged for a while and your 12v battery failed, it could drain the big battery below the point it could recover from, bricking the battery pack. Fiat came out with a fix and replaced any bricked

One thing I’ve never seen teased out of reporting on this subject is that drivers of the Fiat 500e were the most likely to go back to gas. I bought a used Fiat 500e a year ago for a very good price and it’s a very good car. Fiat was also basically giving them away in California. Insanely cheap leases that when

I have no idea why the Sorento wasn’t the comparison point for a smaller “sacrifice” SUV. It has a third row and for basically the same price as a telluride, you can get the hybrid version that gets an astounding 39 mpg city.

It feels like pumping high pressure water under the boat will blow away enough of the canal bottom to allow it to float free.  I’m sure there is some reason they aren’t doing this, but I can’t figure out what that reason is.

My Fiat 500e actually does this pretty well. When it is on Auto climate control, it starts out blasting if the outside temp is wildly different than the set temp, high fan and everything and then calms it down over a minute or two. If the outside temp is mild, the climate control starts with the fan low.  I usually

The United States has approximately 18.3 pedestrian deaths per million population per year (6000 deaths, 328 million people). The UK, where I promise you they have plenty of urban areas and drunk people, has a rate of 7.1 pedestrian deaths per million pop. per year.

In fact the entire EU’s rate is just 10.6. Even more
