Soliciting money and gifts always strikes me as so tacky. I saw a story on here I think where a woman gave her friend $50 back because she knew her friend truly could not afford the gift and was having money problems. The friend burst into tears when they gave her the cash gift back.

I agree. I would never give someone cash for their wedding gift. Because I would never hit my friends up for $ for my wedding!
