I’m already sick of the apologists claiming “It was a JOKE! He was on SNL!” like that makes it ok.

How is this different than any other era? Only publicly owned broadcasters/newspapers/whatever media are bound by free speech laws. A private newspaper from 100 years ago was not. A private TV station from 50 years ago was not. This era is different because of the internet?

I’m going to need to see a birth certificate before I hold Hanks responsible.

The argument seems to be less “gay people can’t help being predators” and more like “it’s harder to make good, informed choices when not being hetero-normative makes you practically a criminal.”
