Yeah it’s not as intrusive or as annoying as Destiny’s system. It’ll hang you up in Borderlands on the hardest difficulty on bosses and stop you dead when you’re trying to fight the endgame raid bosses, but otherwise it’s not as prohibitive to how you play

Sounds like you may have never played a BL game and Destiny is your touchstone for this mechanic. It has been present in every BL game with increasing importance as you move into the endgame content and difficulties. It's very manageable
