I was 15 when they originally aired, young enough for wonder to still exist for me, I love season 1 of TNG and never get why people don't enjoy it, without it there'd be no seasons 2-7.

No you come on, two of the episodes you mentioned are classics, they helped revive science fiction on television and re-birthed Star Trek.

This is the one thing in movies I cannot get past, it is a horrendous death and as mentioned, often, a real waste of material. Maybe Spock Prime can now he's in the past prevent if from happening again?

What about well almost every episode from The Big Godobye onwards? they're all excellent examples of strong science fiction.
