It depends what you mean by “America”. Americans with life threatening conditions who lose their insurance may very well NOT survive this. Americans who have their status in this country challenged may very well NOT thrive. American kids who get shot as a result of a “stop and frisk” gone wrong will NOT grow.

Except not everybody survived. And what was the cost? Where might the world be if all those shitty things hadn’t happened? If America simply existing is the goal, I guess it’s hard to lose. I’d think most people would want to aim a little higher.

I think childhood cancer gets little funding now because it used to get a lot of funding... and most childhood cancers at this point have amazing recovery/survival rates. It’s like complaining that prostate cancer doesn’t get funding. It’s because they have 90% survival rates.
