And I totally understand the concern. At the same time, should that be used as a reason to discourage mixed race couples from having chidren, or to discourage white people from adopting minority children? I tend to think that's not the answer because if no one is out there challenging discrimination, it will never get

No, I'm not saying all 88 year-olds are nutty. All I'm saying is that this particular 88 year-old comes off as sounding a bit nutty. Have you heard him speak? He definitely sounds a bit "off", and it's got nothing to do with his age. Why do you assume that if I think he's a bit off, that I think all 88 year-olds are?

Congrats to them but I don't get public engagements. Does anyone like the idea of being proposed to in front of other people? Are people exhibitionists or am I the weirdo who finds the whole idea cringe-worthy?

I was shocked when I found out gay men couldn't donate blood. It's simply ridiculous.

Also, the younger. Baby animals are absolutely delicious.

Rabbit is delicious and you shouldn't let anyone shame you into thinking you shouldn't eat it!

I think you can be both right about something and a nutter. I just get a nutty vibe. Have you seen him? Have you heard him speak? He's definitely a little "off".

Look, I agree with you that having 4 small kids when you lack economic security isn't a great idea. No argument from me there. And I'm all for advocating and educating and telling people not to have more kids than they can afford, but that also involves you know, authorities actually going out there and educating

Yeah.

Exactly. Unless the children looked malnourished or unkempt or abused, the problem here is that this woman probably doesn't have access to affordable childcare or people in her life to help watch her kids.

My dream job!

That would be amazing. She'd pretend to be oh-so-happy for them, and then casually remark that she has just the juice cleanse for JLaw's "problem areas"...

Then how can you expect to get real justice? Yes, it's traumatic, but I do think rape victims need to be strongly encouraged to press charges.

LOL Did you know, it's also possible to read a piece, acknowledge the good points, and still disagree with it overall? I appreciate Callie's pieces, they bring up interesting points, I agree with a lot of what she has to say, but on this particular topic, I'm afraid I disagree and I think rapes should be handled by

Exactly. Just because the police aren't doing a great job, doesn't mean the solution is to create a parallel justice system within universities. Especially considering that many universities are private, have their own agendas, and are more worried with protecting their reputations than with the wellbeing of some of

I know it's been addressed. But why do you assume that if it's been addressed, it means that we therefore have to agree and shut up? I've read that piece, and many others, and while I find logic in some of the points raised, I still think rapes should be handled primarily by the police and the courts, and colleges can

Thank you! Whenever I express that opinion here - that rape is a serious crime and thus needs to be handled by law enforcement, not schools - people invariably attack that as if I'm the crazy one for thinking that rapists deserve jail time, not suspension or explulsion, and that any punitive action a college takes

Was the police informed that there was a serial rapist on campus? I'm not saying Columbia doesn't need to improve its policy, I'm just saying that how can it be that there's a serial rapist at a university and the university is the one that's expected to handle his punishment, when he clearly deserved to be arrested

"Coke tits" is up there with "sugartits" and is now one of my favourite expressions.

That's true. I still can't believe she has to face the ridiculous charges against her. Hopefully those will get dismissed too.
