I did my thesis on Pro and college sports fans and how they pick their teams, so this is kinda in my wheelhouse. Generally, college fans are college fans and pro fans are pro fans. They watch the other, may even have a favorite team, but it’s significantly lacking in how much they care.

The closest you’ll find if the UFC, which isn’t a true comparison due to not having a season and being a string of one-off events. Cormier-Jones will sell no matter when it is.

College wrestlers sell out arenas in the Midwest, but if they want to compete after college they literally have to learn a new sport.

Same, and it’s not because of a lack of coverage of women’s sports. The US soccer team is covered, women’s MMA, women’s wrestling, and Sarah Barker, probably the best sportswriter here, has covered women’s track & field. Women’s professional basketball is constantly ignored.

I feel like having Burneko’s voice in my head is something I’ll be describing to a therapist one day. Or a cardiologist.

Even going a step further, one of the main things covered at the Olympics, especially over at Jezebel, was the women of color winning their events. Gymnastics, swimming, and track & field all got coverage, but the site that promotes women and minorities for the most part ignored the US women’s basketball team.

Ed Van Impe just cracked his knuckles and said “let’s go.”

That’s what I was thinking of! Thank you! +1 for old time’s sake.

Rock you like a Iracane. Old school there. I miss those days.

There used to be, when Leitch was still in charge, before Gawker and all that. I remember someone getting banned for (I think) a 9/11 joke. People would also get banned for Anchorman quotes and just posting gifs in lieu of writing a joke. Sigh...

Then Obama should have stepped in well before and she shouldn’t have spent all this time in prison. 7 years for exposing war crimes is kinda messed up.

There isn’t a middle ground here. Either she deserves the time in prison or she did something good and doesn’t. This letting her out after 7 years is just trying to have it both ways.

Hehehehehehe. Sorry, I’m still 11.

This, my friend, is good kinja. Even as an American, I’m a fan of Neale and Cole.

In fairness to Vancouver, they do it in defeat as well as victory.

I thought that was the middle daughter from 8 Simple Rules.

This made me laugh uncontrollably. probably because i’m drunk.

This is why I have always believed that the perfect home security threat is a monkey. I assume that if i’m breaking into someone’s house (assuming homeowner is not there), there is a 55% chance that I will be met with a dog. I am prepared to get attacked by a dog. You know what I’m not prepared for? A capuchin perched

Remember: It’s not a lie if you believe it.
