I was gutted over having to leave my 2 year old hamster when I visited family. Even though he stayed with a vet tech and was spoiled, I felt so guilty. I’m his human and he knowes me. If it had been a 15 year old dog, there is just no way I’d leave.
Just this morning, I was nearly run over by a bike in a crosswalk in Cambridge. Again. I would so love it if cops witnessed this. Every time it happens, I momentarily considering planting my feet and letting them crash into me. Sure, it might result in an ER trip, but I’m nearly at the point of risking a severe head…
Yep, in any bio class I have taken, I’ve been like ‘imma check out during this unit because I have already studied the definitive work on the topic of cell biology.’
After reading that book in fourth grade, I would run around the playground at school wailing dramatically about my mitochondria. I thought I was hilarious. The other kids, for reasons that continue to elude me, did not.
Exactly. Regardless of what they did to get themselves incarcerated, transgender inmates are automatically subjected to much harsher conditions than cisgender inmates. A relatively straightforward medical procedure along with medication can reduce the risk of suicide and/or violence from others significantly.
No socks! As an adult I have to smear lotion on my feet nightly to keep the eczema at bay. I had no idea how good I had it.
Was I the only one who had no jelly shoe related issues? I rocked the shit out of them at zoo camp in the summer of ‘86.
Heh, thanks. I have ALWAYS spelled it wrong.
I’m Minnesotan on my mother’s side, and during childhood spent my summers bouncing between Princeton, Apple Valley, and Duluth. It’s all a blur of rock skipping, the Maynards jingle, and Tobies donuts. But I very distinctly remember the first time I heard about Jacob, and the serious, almost reverential nature of…
Now that’s crazy talk!
My dad went to Princeton for engineering. Being raised by someone who went to an Ivy League school really takes the glow off of those supposedly elite institutions. Just last week on a family trip, he, an Ivy educated engineer, couldn’t get the cabin’s windows to open. He was turning the knob the wrong way.
I’ve always done HHG2G.
My middle name is from my Norwegian-born grandmother, and I frequently lament that it’s not my first name. I occasionally waffle over going by my middle name.
What also cracks me up is how much that the baby looks like a tiny Ice-T. It’s adorable.
The Phantom. I genuinely loved that movie, and am still upset that there were no sequels.
I very vividly remember the exact moment that earworm infected me. The setting was Barcelona, in the summer of 1989. My brother, his friend Benji, and I were sitting around the table in our sunroom eating spaghetti. Benji, who is half-British, decided to share a ‘hilarious’ song he learned from his cousins during a…
I think I liked the second even more than the first. I recommend waiting a bit to fully process the first before moving on to the second.
Exactly. My mom didn’t abandon the child she birthed at 19. She gave him to his parents.
Mares is not allowed to see Peterson or any of her other children. She doesn’t seem to care.
