totally read the headline as “the playboy mansion now officially belongs to twink” and honestly, thought that made more sense

the true winner now that the deal’s closed-
She would run the yard. For sure.
I dont know if you realize how much the word “choice” comes up in your post. As if everyone lives somewhere they choose to, or if they practically have a choice to live somewhere else even if they wanted to. You talk about you and your husband discussing where to live, and that’s wonderful that you can. That is not a…
We need people to live and work on coastal regions, though. Many of our import and export goods arrive and depart through ports. People need the food we grow and we need the goods that other countries make. If we abandoned coastal areas, how would we continue to ship and receive these goods?
Isn’t there an important port in New Orleans, or nearby? There is a lot of oil industry in the area and they probably can’t easily relocate a whole industry that is reliant on a port.
Baton Rouge is not coastal! Sweet jesus. Please consult a map before making pronouncements.
How many times will it take people explaining to you this is not New Orleans for you to grasp it? This is Baton Rouge, not New Orleans. Baton Rouge is NOT below sea level. It’s 56 feet above sea level in fact. It’s an inland city more than 1.5 hours from New Orleans. It has not been destroyed multiple times. Also New…
I think people are getting a little touchy because of the Katrina comparisons though... Katrina was largely a man-made disaster caused by a levee system that was improperly built and overwhelmed by a hurricane. Baton Rogue is more than an hour north of New Orleans and pretty firmly inland. Bringing up the issue of…
It’s not just the 30 inches of rain. It’s 30 inches in a very short time. A day or so? No place can absorb that. I read that an inland tropical storm formed. That would of course be less likely up north but that’s no reason not to live in Louis.
Global warming is thought to increase the severity of weather in general, which is why a severe rain storm like this is being grouped into a discussion of global climate change. This wasn’t a traditional Gulf storm, it was actually a stalled frontal system. Hurricanes and tropical storms are actually having a greater…
We are not below sea level. We are over an hour from New Orleans. All of this peanut gallery commentary about how ppl shouldn’t live here is a ridiculous outrage. Yes global warming is a real problem, but guess what? People have been living here LONG before global warming studies emerged. Everyone should just leave?…
What’s so devastating about this event is many, many people did not have flood insurance. So many homes on FEMA maps that showed high ground, unlikely to flood did flood. Mortgage companies didn’t require flood insurance for these homes. It’s optional. In a state where homeowner’s insurance is hard to get and…
A friend of mine is from there, and her family still lives there. They have no homes or belongings—her toddler nephew slept in a shopping cart in a WalMart the other night before being picked up and taken to a shelter. So many heartbreaking stories. I donated to their GoFundMe and hope that they—and everyone else…
