I loved THE STAND but Abagail's sudden decision to go crawlabout always stuck out to me as a too-obvious authorial intervention. You shouldn't be able to see the puppet strings so clearly.

Shit. Ralph Fiennes. Damn, that's pretty good, actually. I never even considered him. If Clive Owen wasn't so English, I think he'd be perfect, he looks just like the picture of Roland in my mind.
That was not a very good QL, it was one of the dumb "predestination paradox" episodes. Sam was supposed to put right what once went wrong, not ensure that history unfolded just the way it did the first time. I hated when they did that. (They also did that for Buddy Holly, Christ that was dumb.)
Derry is meant to be a very Bangor-esque large town/small city in King's Maine. It's not a replacement for Bangor, because Bangor is mentioned too, although seldom used as a setting (the only exception that springs to mind is "The Langoliers," which takes place at Bangor International Airport). It's just really…
"Is it because the Democrats are in power now, so simple sloganeering and rabble rousing is not only unnecessary, but hurting the liberals working within the system trying to get something done?"
With Rex Hamilton as Vampire Abraham Lincoln!
Now for some reason I'm remembering an episode of QUANTUM LEAP where Sam leapt into a bumbling magician in the 70s, and the plot revolved around him trying to get his life together by achieving a particularly pitiful goal: an audition for that Bixby show.
Can't be any worse than LAKE PLACID 2. Or LAKE PLACID, for that matter.
This is a skyscraper.
Nathan Lane?
POINT BREAK is more fun, but ROAD HOUSE is more important.
Does anyone remember this one from the nightmare world that was HBO in the Eighties?:
There are some good Eddie Murphy movies, but there was never any "Golden Age" from which he fell. Right at the beginning of his career is the fucking abysmal BEST DEFENSE directed by the guy who went on to direct HOWARD THE DUCK.
