because white people are really, really bad at recognizing and acknowledging their own racism. especially when they think they’re one of “the good ones.”

Also Babycakes and Mrs Winterbourne with Ricki Lake. And Alfie with Shelly Winters fifty years ago! She’s basically only accurate if she’d said, “I’ll be the first plus size woman to star in a romcom in 2019.”
The more I learn about her, the more I think she’s an asshole.
As I said in the other thread, this is a very strange hill for her to die on. She said something that was incorrect and she has been provided with multiple examples to prove she was wrong. Why not just say “sorry” and move on? She’s been digging her heels in all weekend and blocking people left and right. I’m not even…
All she had to do - AND THIS IS SO EASY THAT A CHILD CAN DO IT - is say, “oh my god, I’m so sorry that I said that. I wasn’t remembering correctly, and you know what? This is an excellent time to remind us all that we need to have a frank, open dialogue about equal representation in the entertainment industry, because…
I hope someone cracks this case, and cracks it soon.
Girl, I wouldn’t care if I was naked with a needle in my arm, if Oprah showed up that shit BETTER be on camera for when I brag my brains out about it. #Thatsjustme
Having worked in production for many years how this works is as follows...they film it and then ask permission if they can use the footage. If the person says no they don’t use it.
I guarantee you they got the woman’s permission before actually broadcasting it. Oprah’s too experienced a television personality to make that mistake. I’m sure there’s an assistant with a clipboard whose entire job is to do exactly that right after the filming has ended.
The two top-selling female rap artists of the past decade.
Don’t pretend they aren’t famous or important just because you don’t like their shit. It’s petty.
I was significantly enraged by the “punching down” aspect of their comedy, like they were trying to write a hot take about so-called PC culture. I didn’t enjoy it at all. It wasn’t even good for a hate watch, since I was mostly nauseated and disappointed.
Yeah, guys, just give that shit UP. Enough awready. Nobody’s believing your excuses of “we’re just waiting for the 1 day of the year where there might not be a mass-shooting”, because that day will never fucking come.
If they can’t air the show after tragic acts of gun violence, when is there going to be a time when they can air it? Like, when is there a time when there has been no recent gun violence?
I can see his point but, like, who cares? Fergie would probably prefer he not bring any more attention to it and macho posturing for an ex-spouse on national tv is a little bit thirsty, you know?
This is by far the most common and short sighted argument that I see. Wringing hands worried about what the “other side” will think or do.
I don’t know how anyone who’s been paying attention for the past two years thought this would “shut Trump up”. Nothing will shut him up because him and his supporters do not care about facts. It doesn’t matter what you say, they will always have an answer, twist it around, or deflect. The only way to beat them is to…
I don’t want my perfect angel cats touching that shit.
This line of thinking drives me up the wall. I was a nurse for ten years in locked psych. We had patients that were violent. Yet, in my old profession, we did not raise a hand to them. We de-escalated, we redirected, we disarmed. All without a weapon or military grade armor. Just me, my NACs and nurses, all in scrubs.
My fav part might be this quote from the defense attorney:
I think this just adds another problem to the list of concerns; he still has his calendar from 36 years ago. He’s a rapist AND a hoarder!
