Really? In the first hour of FF6, you get to explore 2 towns, talk to dozens of NPC's, shop for various items, choose your party members, and how you lead them. You get to back track, you get to find treasure chests, and you get to transverse over several different terrains.
I don't really understand what you're saying, FF is only considered linear because its a multi-plat game?

The term linear is too far encompassing. If one wanted too, one could make the argument that ANY game is linear. Even games like Oblivion, where you can't advance the story unless complete certain checkpoints.

No game involves running straight ahead like FF13 does. FPS's let you duck, cover, jump, roll, shoot ect. in those hallways. In FF13, all you do is press up on the D-pad.
