This never occurred to me while watching, but Alan Sepinwall said the same, and it clicked. Interesting to see that other professional critics (like the reviewer here) didn't catch it either.
I thought they were both pretty awesome. But there are those who found them too slow. I feel sad for them.
Alan Sepinwall believes it was a setup, to get Ernesto to tell Jimmy and lure Jimmy into doing something blatantly illegal to recover the tape. I never thought of it at the time, but I think he might be right, based on the way Chuck's expression looked after Ernesto turned his back.
Why is everyone so sure Jess is gone for good? They have feinted in that direction before.
Toxic? How so?
Seriously. Is anyone watching? Very few comments here, none at PTV.
"Easha’s struggle provides a compelling tale that doesn’t resort to broad character strokes or painting the Islamic faith as the bad guy."
Yes, this whole thread is exactly the discussion I was looking for. (Please, no one spoil me: I just got HBO and have only seen two episodes.)
I've also got two daughters ages 13 and 7 plus another son age 4.
My first impulse was to say that it would cramp their style too much. But they could use electric cars, fanning out to find homes with solar panels where they could plug in. It would actually be sort of fun to see them hopscotching around through a network of such places.
I was going to say I agreed entirely with the review, but now you've reminded me: THAT was actually the funniest part of a mostly listless episode.
Riiiight. There's not 83 gazillion hits for "teen" porn or anything. No, sirree. Just not a popular thing.
I'm just more honest than most dudes.
I mean, you can say one is so different from the other, but I just don't see it. Not in the "text" itself. Obviously we know from the post-show interviews that Dunham and Apatow do see this is finality for Hannah and Adam, the end of their story together. So you've got an inherent advantage in your position due to…
I too did not realize any of that until watching the "Behind the Episode" deal. They definitely could have made it clearer, assuming they're not going to do so next week.
Okay, spoilers for "The Graduate" follow.
Ha, thanks rawbun. It's not easy. I saw your comment on my phone when you first wrote it, for instance, but this is the first chance I've had to comment. And it's hard too in this "Platinum Age" of TV to keep up in general, especially when you like to read about and discuss episodes. I'm way, way behind on some…
According to various recappers, commenters, and most importantly the writers of the episode: yes.
I definitely felt that shift. But…well, did you ever see the movie "The Graduate"?
