I don't think he found Jared through Kate, but rather through the publicity about the family that was killed.

Why would "TOS" stand for "The Dissolve"?
He could have a good in-character reason. I remember years ago watching an episode of "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" in which the straight guy had worn a toupee for years, through a marriage and a couple of kids, and his wife had never once seen him without it.
Yeah, I always thought the pattern was a bit weak at that point.
The "totalitarian dictatorship" part would have been an outright lie, though. The Sandinistas actually let Nicaraguan citizens vote them out of power, and they honoured the results of the election.
Tried the second ep and now I'm hooked—thanks!
Just watched the second episode and now I get what the fuss is about. Thanks for the encouragement!
Good point about Martha. Her initial reaction to the tape—"those bastards", but with a kind of intonation particular to her—is a good example of what you are talking about.
I agree; I was really just noting that there was a fundamental flaw in the assumption behind the premise of the analogy.
Sounds reasonable to me.
Pragmatic zen master—nicely worded. I was defending him in another thread as coming across "kind of cool, badass" but knew that wasn't quite right. You nailed it.
Huh. I don't know what I could have mistaken it for; I feel like I wasn't even familiar with the idea that there was controversy over it until hearing it from you. Strange.
Well, sure.
I'm an atheist, and knowing Philip is one as well, that would be my natural inclination in how I would interpret the scene. That I took it differently regardless seems significant to me.
I went back and watched it just now and stand by my interpretation. He was sneering and defiant until after he asked "Do you…
Right, exactly. And this show is usally more tightly plotted than this, so it's odd.
But his testimony provides no proof that the Soviets were behind it. If they wanted to stir up shit in this way, they could have done it when those FBI agents got killed, when the guy in the pilot got nabbed, etc.
Yeah, what merits the full A? I didn't see any real criticisms of the episode in the review.
Nah, that's how I found it. Not the top result, but only a couple down.
I agree, and I've hated North for thirty years.
