I think she's written better in part because they now have a sense of who Ezri is, minus the symbiont. Ezri Tegan is a real person. Jadzia (last name unknown) was not.

I like her a lot too. You get the sense that she was somewhat flighty before the emergency joining, but grounded enough to know what she wanted: to get out of her family's shitty mining business and become a counselor. And Starfleet wasn't a perfect fit, but it got her where she was going.

I'm guessing the Trill don't believe in heaven because they have symbionts, which provide a literal life-after-death. Since Jadzia had earned one, and ensured the survival of the symbiont, she's already covered by the statutes of her culture.

Man, what a missed opportunity.

SPOILERS

I think at this point Bajor still has a non-aggression pact with the Dominion, which means the Feds are essentially occupying the station now.

REALLY FUCKING BIG SPOILERS

I bought that shirt from their store and wore it for years, that's how seriously pissed I was about that story.

Ah, back when I used to read TV Guide for the spoilers.

The episode also relies on Greene not checking her for pre-eclampsia when she comes in the first time, which is a big hurdle to jump. Pre-eclampsia's not nearly uncommon enough for an ER doc not to check. It also has a standard treatment at 38 weeks: emergency c-section. No way they would have let her continue to try

Oh, I would definitely remember if she was a belly dancer!

I was a very young, but loyal viewer of ER for a long time. (Like, way into the Africa years long.) Did anyone else find this episode totally poisoned Dr. Greene for them? Because I know the moral of this one is supposed to be about Greene's humanity in the face of panic and massive fuckupery, but even as 14 year old

Fuck Romano's death forever. To this day I've never seen anything that egregiously said 'screw you, loyal viewer' as much as that.

Not entirely alone in this. He's been typecast pretty bad post-West Wing and trying to break out of it, but it's slow going, which is too bad. I think it helps that as he ages he looks increasingly less like Josh Lyman, but that doesn't help this episode at all.

My memory of this episode is that Mark doesn't just fuck it up once, but two or three times out of panic in the last twenty. The lawsuit in the later episodes seems extremely necessary, especially since Whitford's character in this episode is (rightly) upset and questioning his judgement.

I'm really excited about this one. Please let it not suck, TV gods.

I think Jake's hit/miss ratio is higher than say, either of the Daxes. So I think the show did a disservice by not having more of them.

Someone smarter than I (but long forgotten) pointed out that Profit and Lace could have been a great episode if only they had brought Pel back and centered the plot around her.

"Nor the Battle to the Strong" really is a great episode, and it would be nice if Jake's experiences there were directly referenced here. But nice job making the connection for us.

Which is based on the fact that the Air Force often hands out stims to pilots for similar reasons.
