The restrictions just make me so angry. My grandma had many (coathanger) abortions in the PZPR era. Knowing how poor they were, and how hard my mother’s childhood was, I can’t imagine them having more children to feed. How is that pro-life? Great! I mean, their existing laws are still hella restrictive, but at least it isn’t worse now!

Excellent. I’m sure they’ll try again at some point considering the political party and the Catholic Church in Poland, but to be decisively stopped for now is a huge victory (and hopefully the same will happen again when they try again).

News from Poland: There will be another abortion law project. This one won’t ban abortion completely or punish women, but it will still make current law even more restricted. And it might pass, because what PiS (the ruling party) proposes, PiS makes happen.

Even more sadly, this is true for much of the world, not just Poland.

One great thing democracies around the world have in common is how often they put completely unqualified people in positions of power.
