This doesn’t surprise me. Cycles of abuse are self-perpetuating. I’m surprised more people aren’t pointing out how distressingly similar the details of this assault are to her allegation against Weinstein: the grooming and isolating of the victim, providing alcohol before attacking etc. It’s infuriating to think

Holy shit. That really adds an extra layer of fucked-up-ness.  Nevermind what kind of role he had in her film, but that she knew him since he was 7?!?

I’m delighted to see that this pulled in nearly double what Wahlburg’s Mile 22 made over the same period.

Totally fair, and if representation wasn’t SO lacking people wouldn’t have to beg to find it all in one film. We simply need more voices in more films (because seriously there’s certainly no lack of movies about rich white people or white midwestern farmers).

While it’s good that people are pointing out that that Singapore is more than just rich ethnic Chinese people (given many Americans, in particular, wouldn’t have a clue), is it really a valid criticism of a film based on a book that specifically tells the story of...Crazy Rich Asians?

I googled it.  It’s like if 1997 Chloe Sevigny was a clothing store instead of a person.

Never heard of Supreme. Is it “legacy” in just New York? Am I too old? Too young? What is happening.

Shout out to the Hearst family for smearing Chloe Dykstra and anyone else who actually spoke up about this, never letting us forget that whole family has always been horrible.

adding insult to injury (against Dykestra and any women in his life) is that Hardwick is just a bland, enthusiastic, and supremely boring person who somehow parleyed that into a job. he’s not worth the effort to defend. my heart goes out to Chloe who has to see her abuser’s name splashed over every single headline for

I feel sorry for Lohan.  She’s pretty clearly messed up and needs therapy and probably meds, so I can’t be too upset when she says something stupid.

I just have to believe she was horribly abused at Disney..I mean, besides two NPD parents.

Nope.

Hey you know what we need? More women in politics.

Nah, this was one of the last houses to be converted in a neighborhood that has largely been replaced with opulent mansions.  Every house on the block is worth more than $1 million. They’re just frustrated that so much money can’t buy you privacy in LA.

Now playing

I remember the first time I heard Baby One More Time; I was sitting in the back of my Driver’s Ed car, and at first I thought it was a new Robyn song. It has the same up and down beat as Do You Know What It Takes (which can be attributed to late 90s pop god producer Max Martin)

Of course, if it was a man of 36 dating a woman of 25, nobody would bat an eye.

Very interesting! I’m glad your son came out. :) I feel so badly for people who have to or feel that they have to stay in the closet. It just seems so miserable.

That’s some serious bullshit, I’m sorry you’re already dealing with that kind of nonsense. You can’t protect your daughter from all the toxic messages she’ll hear, but it sounds like you’re already doing a rad fucking job of modeling strong and confident behavior for her. Good luck.

We had a long talk about how fat wasn’t something you are, but rather just something that everyone has. Some people have more and some people have less. And I tried to talk to her about how she is strong and athletic and how her body does exactly what it’s supposed to.

“I truly hope you realize how important setting goals are for young women, teaching them we have so much more to offer than just our bodies,” Moretz wrote.”
