If they franchise him his options are to sign it and play under it next year, or not sign it and not play at all next year.

I think the main problem (for consumers, not car makers) is that you can take a Mazda 3 hatchback, raise it a few inches and give it a bit more cargo space, and call it a CX-5 and charge $4,000 more across trim levels for it. That’s not even accounting for adding AWD, which is another one or two thousand.

I also strongly suspect it was more the “Title IX doesn’t exist in our office” stuff that convinced them to fire him before they ended up with their own Baylor situation.

The worst part is, they went out of their way to make the Si coupe way uglier than it needs to be. The Si coupe has much smaller fake rear vents like the sedan/coupe base models, while the Si sedan has the larger vents from the hatch model bumper. It’s mind-boggling!

Most of the reason I got a coupe Si over a sedan is because the awful rear fake vents are significantly less awful.
