One problem is that American culture in general has a hard time distinguishing between capitalism and the free market. Unionizing and collective bargaining is in the spirit of the free market while also directly antagonistic toward capital(ism).

The stakes are a lot higher because you have only one life per round. I get attached enough to my characters that I weigh carefully when to take a risk. 

I think the worst-case-scenario here is that it ruins the Overwatch competitive scene. No one else is going to emulate this strategy until they at least see how it plays out for Blizzard first.

What site have you been reading? Half the articles about FF are about how much of a shitshow the company is behind the scenes. Even this article is explicitly skeptical if they can actually do anything beyond a prototype.
