While I agree with you on the overuse of pretaping, the last few weeks of shows were great, it was mostly guests I'd consider "friends of the show" & they were all really good.
I don't think Craig got "shoved out the door", he's made it pretty clear he didn't really want to renew the last time his contract was up, & CBS pretty much talked him into it by giving him the bigger studio & stuff.
I'm still disappointed he never had Capaldi on after he got the role of The Doctor.
I think reason why they gave Cutler the huge contract is pretty much what we're seeing now, they have no Plan B behind Cutler.
